Oh dear sweet lord in heaven! Here comes a nerd attack… Breathe, L.E., Breathe! Okay… I’m good. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment announced a prequel title to the Batman: Arkham games today. Oh… here it comes again! No… I’m good. I’m fine. Really. Batman: Arkham Origins is being developed for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii U and PC by WB Games Montreal, and is set several years before the events of the two previous titles. In fact, it goes back to Bruce Wayne’s early days as Batman, and even some of his first encounters with key franchise characters.
Releasing alongside Arkham Origins will be Arkham Origins Blackgate, a handheld “companion game” coming specifically to Nintendo 3DS and Playstation Vita. Arkham Origins Blackgate is in development at Armature Studio and is a 2D/3D title that ties into the storyline of the console version and lets you “discover more details of the Dark Knight’s past”. Well, cash-grabiness aside, this all sounds like it should be quite interesting, especially given the fact that WBIE is giving a different studio a run at the award-winning franchise. Both Batman: Arkham Origins and Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate are scheduled to release on October 25th.
