The introduction to Far Cry 3 is one of the best opening scenes I have ever seen in a video game. The characters are rich, the graphics are pristine, it’s funny, it’s thrilling, and it’s highly captivating. And getting to experience it in a room set up like a screening, just made it feel that much more cinematic. It really set the gaming tone for the evening.
With televisions lining the walls of Tattoo Rock Parlour in downtown Toronto, there was no need to wait to dive into the game, because there were enough screens for pretty much everyone in attendance. And with the option to play either multiplayer or co-op, there was a lot of shooting-people-in-the-face fun to be had!
A tournament also took play at the event, which, sadly, I was not able to stick around for. But I’m sure if the bits I played are any indication, it was probably that much more awesome and competitive.
And as always, the various foodstuffs were delicious, and the open bar with ever flowing with beverages of the alcoholic variety was superb.
