Save the town from the alien hoards by getting drunk. Yes,Grabbers has all the qualities of a standard monster movie, but it’s the comedy that makes it unique.

Who knew you could be drunk to save the world?  The filmmakers effectively combined scares while still making you laugh.  I didn’t know if I should scream or laugh.   Additionally, a beautiful music score accompanies this film to give you the feel of a small town on the water in Ireland.

Grabbers opened the 2012 Toronto After Dark Festival and has set the mood for the movies to come.  Some are scary, some are funny, and they are all oddballs that you will sadly miss if you only watch mainstream cinema.

If you like monster movies, then add this to your list of things to watch. While Grabbers isn’t a new concept, and follows the same layout as most monster movies, it is fun and light-hearted with light-headed people. Always remember to “stay out of the water”.
