Sony Computer Entertainment America announced the North American launch of LittleBigPlanet for Playstation Vita. This first time the franchise makes its way to Sony’s latest handheld system opens up the Play, Create, Share elements to new control opportunities and innovative new tools for game creation. LittleBigPlanet also features a brand new story featuring 45 levels spanning six different themes. It’s all set on a fairground planet called Carnivalia, where a mysterious Puppeteer is stealing all the joy from Craftworld (seriously? This passes for a story concept?). From there, you know the drill. Traverse the levels, foil the Puppeteer’s plans.

As mentioned before, LittleBigPlanet for Vita features new control elements; You’ll be able to use both the front and rear screens, multi-touch, tilt, and interact with other, nearby players to challenge them in score battles for a particular level or game. It also includes multiplayer modes for up to four players. Better yet, the Cross-Goods system is expanding access across the franchise’s titles, allowing you to access previously purchased and newly purchased costumes to share across the two LittleBigPlanet PS3 titles and this new version. LittleBigPlanet for Playstation Vita is available for $39.99.
