Hot off the release of their 2D/3D Side-Scrolling Shoot ‘em up, Shoot Many Robots, Demiurge Studios is now asking players to turn their weapons on each other. This week, the Cambridge, Massachusetts development studio announced that it is currently testing out a standalone player-versus-player adaptation/follow-up of/to Shoot Many Robots called Shoot Many Robots: Arena Kings, an objective-based online deathmatch that pits players against each other with a retrieve and return challenge – kill your opponent, collect his crown and then flush it down a teleporting golden toilet.

Currently in closed beta, though the studio is releasing batches of keys each week, Arena Kings is growing and changing on a weekly basis, based on player feedback. A lot of gear has made its way from Shoot Many Robots to Arena Kings and there are new things to come. It’s currently free-to-play on PC via Steam if you get access to the beta, which you can attempt to do by clicking here. The folks at Demiurge have not, however, said whether it will still be free upon release or not. We’ll just have to wait to find out.
