The Dark Knight Rises was my least favorite film of the trilogy. All the overhyping, and having a predecessor as awesome as The Dark Knight, definitely got me off on the wrong foot going into the theater. After seeing it, however, those two concerns were overwhelmingly trumped by all the nonsense in the film. The dialogue was dramatized ad nauseam, there were too many characters (some of which (like Catwoman) were pretty useless), way too many coincidences, and the twist was supremely unnerving. Also, for a Batman movie, there was a serious lack of Batman. There are other issues, but for the sake of not spoiling the film I’ll just say that I have more qualms, some bigger than others, that really dampened the viewing experience.

Now, that doesn’t mean it was completely awful. The film did have a sizable helping of cool/fun scenes and the cast was excellent.

In all, though it was far from the epic conclusion I was hoping for, it is still worth seeing, at least for the sake of finishing the trilogy off. Just don’t feel like you have to rush to see it, because it really wasn’t all that good.
