Alright folks, it’s official. The first major blockbuster of the summer is here, and since it is still very much spring, I believe that this is an early gift to us from the Mindless Action Movie gods. No, The Avengers won’t win any critical praise for character development or writing, but the viewers do get a quick breakdown of the personality of each of the Avengers, and damn is it an explosive film! Seeing it in IMAX 3D just made it that much more over-the-top.

At one point I actually realized that I was so zoned in to the movie that I was zoned out of everything else that was around me. I was so immersed into the film that all I was seeing was action. At this point, the only thing I’m unsure of is whether it was the film or IMAX. I suppose I’ll have to wait until The Dark Knight Rises to find out. Additionally, I quite enjoyed the entire lead up to the major battle, from the introduction to the chase, and everything in between. If this isn’t the blockbuster movie with which to kick off the summer season, I don’t know what is.
