» Previews: Sony Spring Showcase: day the first

I’m not going to lie, many of the games at the Sony Spring Showcase today didn’t really tickle my fancy. And I think it has something to do with how much they resemble other games I’ve played. For example, Game of Thrones (the game) looks very much like Dragon Age, Skyrim, or most other medieval themed RPGs of similar kin, PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale is very reminiscent of Smash Bros., and LittleBigPlanet Karting shares many characteristics with Modnation Racers. You see what I’m saying? The other games showcased were Starhawk, Sorcery, Resistance: Burning Skies, Silent Hill: Book of Memories, Lollipop Chainsaw, Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection and a few more.

Not having much time to play these games, I went around and asked various people what they thought of the games, and most of what I heard was highly positive. Here is some of what I gathered: LittleBigPlanet Karting is adorable (who wouldn’t want to drive around as a sackboy wearing a rabbit suit in a flower pot with cookie tires?), PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale is loads of fun, and Sorcery is really quite innovative.

Tomorrow is part two of the showcase focusing on Canadian-made titles, so stay tuned.
