I told you it wouldn’t be long before I posted something about Assassin’s Creed III. And since Ubisoft actually decided to give out something more than just a teaser cover image today (far more, to be precise), this seems like the most opportune time to jump in on the coverage. You’re probably already aware that the game is in development, and is expected to release on October 30th (October 31st in Europe). Like us though, you were likely uninformed about the story until today, aside from the fact that it takes place during the American Revolution. Well, Ubisoft announced the new main character’s name today, Ratohnhaké:ton/Connor.
The story and characters, however, were not the most important part of today’s announcement though. Is it the Alex Ross Limited Edition collectible cover art that comes with every pre-ordered copy? Well, not in my opinion, no (even as cool as that is). It’s the fact that AC3 has been in development for three years, across a total of seven Ubisoft studios, and that it’s powered by the new Ubisoft-AnvilNext game engine. With twice the production capacity of any Ubisoft title before it, the publisher is definitely going all-out for this franchise.
