Watching his films, we get but a glimpse into the inner workings of Alfred Hitchcock’s vast creative faculties. And Rebecca is but one example of his filmmaking prowess. This is not to denigrate any of the other folks responsible for the making of the film, as a movie is a collaborative effort, where each of the components is pertinent in creating an excellent film. Anyways, as I was saying, thanks to the music, acting, writing, camera work, and, of course, directing, Rebecca’s eerily mysterious and passionately romantic storyline gleamed vivaciously.

The only (dimunitive) problem I had was with the speed by which dialogue was delivered. I had to pay keen attention during conversational scenes, trying to hear every word as they sped by. But, I understand that dialogue delivery and acting in general has vastly evolved over the years, so it didn’t upset me much.

This Blu-ray also comes with a nice sampling dish of extras to feast your eyes, ears and minds on when the film comes to a close. And though Rebecca might not be the first Hitchhock film to purchase (Psycho, North by Northwest, Vertigo, and Rear Window definitely take precedence), it’s still a film worth owning.
