Tables swathed in black tablecloths, fitted with an array of glistening metal cutlery, glasses of various sizes, and delicately luminescent candles were setup in Tattoo Rock Parlour (in downtown Toronto) creating a very intimate atmosphere for the Nintendo Cold Hard Games event last Thursday night. For a Nintendo function, this was certainly out of the ordinary, but it was one of the best I’ve ever attended. Only a handful of media folk were invited (I definitely felt special), and instead of just gaming, this was oriented around gaming and socializing.
There was a handful of 3DS stuff they were showing off, like the Circle Pad Pro attachment for the device, as well as a bunch of games, such as Kid Icarus: Uprising, Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir, Metal Gear Solid 3D Snake Eater, Resident Evil Revelations, and Tekken 3D Prime Edition. However, the main attractions at the event were the free drinks (one cosmopolitan, please and thank you!), more free drinks (mm, make that an appletini this time), and a delicious three-course meal. Oh my, was it every tasty!
I left that night feeling deliciously full, slightly inebriated, and with more friends than I can count (at least 2.5).
