Being an original screenplay, Margin Call definitely required deep research in the world of mortgage-backed securities, and a lot of it was done, which can be verified by how little I understood of it. To be honest, I don’t know much about this stuff, but the writer certainly did. For that, the film deserves a nod. Other than that and the acting, however, this film wasn’t very good. There was no character development, and the story wasn’t particularly accessible. And if the story and characters are both deficient, then there’s nothing to firmly grasp, rendering it difficult to care for.

Verdict: Forget It
