Adding to the ranks of seemingly smaller titles with big ideas, like From Dust and Outland, Ubisoft is currently in the middle of developing I Am Alive, a new adventure title that it calls a “believable” post-apocalyptic action-adventure game. This week, the development and publishing giant announced that it will be releasing the game as part of Microsoft’s Xbox Live Arcade House Party, on March 7th.

I Am Alive follows the journey of your typical everyman as he tries to survive and find his wife and daughter after a, you guessed it, catastrophic… no! Apocalyptic event! You know the drill. A city in ruins. Toxic clouds in the streets. Society has crumbled and people are doing anything and everything to survive. The big difference from your standard post-apocalyptic adventure is what sounds like a refreshing lack of zombies, and a combat system based on character perception. Ubisoft’s example is that of a cowardly opponent being frightened off when your character brandishes an empty gun. Tougher opponents, however, may prove to be a bigger challenge. Let’s hope the story is just as intriguing. I Am Alive will be priced at 1200 Microsoft Points when it launches on the Xbox Live Marketplace on March 7th.
