» News: Toronto Start-Up Looks to Take on Used Game Retailers with Video Game Sharing
| Monday, October 31, 2011
It’s not the first of its kind, but Toronto start-up Waygoz.com has just entered the ring of used video games with its new game swapping service. With its “Swap-O-Matic technology”, Waygoz.com is built to provide users an alternative to trading in their games or use swapping services that require them to mail their games across the country while paying fees for use of a given service. Swap-O-Matic allows you to search within your local area to find the game you desire and coordinate swap meetings at safe, designated locations like, as Waygoz.com suggests, Starbucks or Tim Horton’s. So you save on the wait times and the fees.
Of course, this leaves the obvious question of “Where will the site’s money originate?”. And the simplest and most reasonable answer to that is “I have no clue”. The site is still in beta, which means that it will likely take some time to build up the number of users and games available. And if you’re as curious as we are about just how, and if, this will all work, you may want to check out the site’s launch party at… well, we can’t say. So click here to find out more.
