Microsoft and Epic Games announced today that the first downloadable expansion pack for Gears of War 3 will be releasing early next month. The game sold over three million copies within its first week of availability, so unless you don’t have Internet access (in which case, how in the heck are you reading this?) there’s no need to fret about having no one to play with when the pack releases. The pack, entitled the Horde Command Pack will launch on November 1st, for 800 Microsoft Points (or automatic availability for Gears of War 3 Season Pass holders), and includes three new Horde multiplayer maps – Blood Drive, Rustlung and Azura – fortification upgrades – a Command Centre, plus Decoy, Sentry and Silverback upgrades – three new characters – Onyx Guard, Big Rig Dizzy and Bernie – and two new weapon skins – Team Plasma and Jungle Camo.

The pack’s contents are also playable in Beast mode and privately hosted Versus matches so, to say the least, Microsoft and Epic are making sure that both Season Pass holders and regular buyers are getting their money’s worth. Finally, the Horde Command Pack includes extra Achievements worth a total of 800 Gamerscore.
