I know it’s a wee bit late, but I finally watched The Illusionist, the third contender for the recent academy award for best-animated film. And though I think Toy Story 3 definitely deserved the award, The Illusionist, a film about a struggling magician and the relationship he forms with a young girl, was quite beautiful. Now, this is not an animated film in the same sense that most Pixar movies are, for it isn’t fun per se. In fact, this movie is rather bleak. And even though there’s very little dialogue in this film, I think it’s worth watching.

Verdict: Rent It
