Like a phoenix rising, Sony was not about to let its recent troubles bog down its E3 press conference. The show kicked off with an impressive montage and Sony’s Jack Tretton immediately addressing the “elephant in the room” by thanking partner developers, publishers and retailers for their commitment to Playstation, and an apology to consumers for any anxiety caused by the security breach. From there, the onslaught of demos and reveals began. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception and Resistance 3 were shown, and remastered versions of Ico, Shadow of Colossus and a God of War Origins bundle, all coming in HD and 3D, came.

NBA 2K12, Infamous 2, a new Sly Cooper, BioShock Infinite, the new Star Trek game and so much more was showcased, it was too much to digest in one sitting. But Sony wasn’t done. To further promote its 3D agenda, it announced a new Playstation-branded 24” 3D TV bundle for $499 USD and to really wow the crowd, revealed the official name of the NGP – Playstation Vita – and, yeah, even some Playstation Move titles. Vita was the showstopper though, thanks to its controls, feature possibilities and, most of all, its price. $249 for WiFi only and $299 for 3G enabled!
