I have found over the years that there are films that I enjoyed when I was younger which I don’t enjoy anymore. So it being years since I’ve seen The Big Lebowski, which is making its Blu-ray debut on August 16th, I can’t honestly say whether I’d still enjoy it as much as I did. I guess I just have to watch it again.
This movie, a comedically twisted film with a solid cast has become quite the classic over the years. In the words of the President of Universal Studios Home Entertainment Craig Kornblau, “The Big Lebowski has transformed from a fan favorite into one of Hollywood’s most celebrated cultural phenomenons.”
Just from my own experience with the film, I can definitely see a lot of truth in this statement. Within my high school class alone, this movie quickly became one of the most quoted films among my classmates.
If you have yet to see it, I do suggest you watch it. And if you own a Blu-ray player, and are a fan of this movie, this limited edition version that is jam-packed with special features and comes with a 28-page companion book seems like a great buy!
