Ubisoft announced today that it is working on a dancing video game that will release in conjunction with Columbia Pictures and Sony Picture Animations’ upcoming part live-action, part 3D animated adaptation of The Smurfs. The game, entitled The Smurfs Dance Party, is being developed for Wii and features the Smurf characters that will appear in the feature film, including Papa Smurf, Smurfette, Clumsy Smurf, Brainy Smurf, Gutsy Smurf – created for the film – and the Smurf nemesis, Gargamel. It will feature a mix of tracks from various musical genres including pop, R&B and punk, and contain over 20 dances, allowing up two four players in Party Mode. Ubisoft has not said how many tracks will be featured in the game, but it will likely match the number of dances.

Additionally, Ubisoft is also developing a Smurfs-themed video game for Nintendo DS. Based on the activities available within The Smurfs for Nintendo DS, it looks like it is being specifically developed for a significantly younger audience. Players will be able to decorate cakes, play dress-up with Smurfette, read and interact with stories based on the movie and perform in the Smurf Symphony. The Smurfs will be releasing in theatres on July  29th.
