Much like the original Donkey Kong Country on the SNES, Donkey Kong Country Returns is fun, but I don’t love it, for a few reasons. First, the controls are satisfactory, but they aren’t amazing. I really don’t enjoy waggling as a gameplay element! Also, though the game wasn’t all that challenging, it was extremely frustrating at times. That’s probably why you can amass so many lives, because this game gives you very little help and you will die a lot. However, I will say that there’s quite a bit of fun to be had here, even though it’s not amazing.
Verdict: Rent It
