We aren’t typically covering iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad or even PC/MAC related things on a regular basis, yet, but this game is releasing on multiple platforms, including Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Wii, so it’s a good segue piece for the occasional non-console story. Electronic Arts’ EA SPORTS label put out some new screenshots of the iPhone/iPod Touch and iPad versions of Madden NFL 11 over this weekend, and they look pretty good. Now keep in mind that that comment comes from someone who doesn’t play games on an iPhone, or use an iPhone or iPod Touch for that matter. I’m sure Nathan would have more to say, but he’s on vacation, so you’ve got me to deal with.
What’s particularly interesting to me about these shots is that you can see just how far games on the mobile platform have come over the past few years. Granted, that’s thanks in large part to the iPhone/iPod Touch’s touchscreen (expect to see games like this coming to similar touchscreen mobile devices in the near future), but it’s also got a lot to do with the ingenuity of developers. The sheer depth of control, even with so few buttons, is quite impressive.
