Politics, diplomacy, romance, third-person sci-fi combat – Mass Effect has them all! Thankfully, because it’s a video game, it can actually get away with packing all of those things in without losing the plot, or the numerous subplots. Because it’s long! You play the role as humanity’s first super-agent in a council of alien races, charged with, what else, saving the galaxy! It can feel a bit sluggish at times, especially with all of the loading, lengthy conversations and elevator travel time, but the overbearing story makes up for that. It’s a truly immersive game, worth playing over and over.

Verdict: Buy It
