2K Games announced the start of a new contest for BioShock 2 today. The publisher is challenging all fans of BioShock 2 to come up with the craziest, most ridiculous, outrageous and, most importantly, creative video they can capture from the game to upload to 2K’s YouTube Contest Channel. Players can capture footage from any version of the game they like (PC, Xbox 360, Playstation 3) and edit to their heart’s content. The contest page even includes instructions on various ways to capture footage from the game, as well as a couple of hints on what the judges will be looking for and other eligibility information.
The winner will receive the equivalent of $5,000 USD and the Big Daddy suit from 2K’s BioShock 2 Special Edition Unboxing video (below). For complete information on the contest, check out the official contest page at www.bioshock2game.com/contest.
Now, I’m all for this contest, but it does make me wonder how 2K is managing to get around ESRB compliance. By the sheer fact that it is running this contest, it’s promoting the uploading of M rated content to YouTube, and there is no guarantee that it will block the content from younger viewers. Just saying.
