A lone cop’s family is killed, and he is framed for murder while tracking down the killers. Left with nothing, he continues to hunt them down, quickly finding that there is much more to the murders and framing than he thought. He has to dive deep into the underbelly of the city to find the truth, and peace. Max Payne has a great story, presented in a captivating noir drama comic/gameplay mix. The Matrix-style slow motion system gets repetitive after a while, but is integral to the feel. And though the presentation is occasionally corny, it’s always action-packed and riveting.

Verdict: Buy It
